The lead article on the front page, titled "Release Liner Recycling to Commence Full-Scale Operation," reported the news that J-ECOL announced the full-scale implementation of its recycling business for used label release liners (label backing paper).

To support this operation, the company will introduce a new traceability system called "JET (J-ECOL Trace Trust)." This system will manage the history of release liner shipment and acceptance information using IDs, from the waste generator to the recycler, establishing a mechanism to certify that the release liner has been appropriately re-resourced.

Operations will begin on July 1st. Release liners discharged from label printing companies, adhesive paper manufacturers, label users, and others will be supplied to paper manufacturers as raw material for recycled paper via old paper wholesalers. Paper manufacturers will then re-resource them as raw materials for corrugated board cores, paperboard, toilet paper, etc., thereby promoting the circular use of release liners, which were previously treated as waste.

J-ECOL, as the promoter of this recycling flow, will take on the role of presenting sorting rules and developing collection schemes for release liner generators, as well as managing traceability using "JET," thereby working to create new value for release liners.

Through this initiative, the company aims to accelerate the establishment of a circular supply chain in the label industry.
