UPM strengthens supply chain with new label materials facility in Northern India

UPM-Kymmene announced on March 30 that it will establish a new slitting and logistics center for self-adhesive label materials near New Delhi in northern India. Scheduled to commence operations in the third quarter of 2026, the facility aims to expand supply capacity and strengthen service systems in the Indian market.

The company opened a logistics hub near Mumbai in western India in 2024, and this new facility will complement it. In India, demand for label materials is increasing due to the growing need for packaging for food, daily necessities, and pharmaceuticals, making stable supply across the region a challenge.

The new facility will handle slitting, inventory management, and shipping of roll materials, enabling quick responses to customer specifications. This will shorten delivery times and improve inventory responsiveness, streamlining and stabilizing the supply chain within India.

In a statement, the company positioned the Indian market as strategically important and stated that this investment is an effort to enhance its service capabilities across the entire country.

In the label materials sector, companies are developing supply bases and logistics functions in response to expanding demand in emerging markets. This investment is also noteworthy as part of strengthening the supply chain to meet increasing regional demand.
