■ Editorial Column | How to read this issue
Following the previous issue, this summer special issue features on its front page and page 4 the results of an urgent survey conducted to visualize the impact of the Middle East situation on the label industry, as described in the column. The survey aimed to understand the status of price pass-through for label products due to rising prices of label-related materials. Out of 123 responses, as stated in the headline, "90% of price increases passed on, but over half expect profit decrease" was reported.
Specifically, the outlook for the current fiscal year showed that a combined 53% expected "significant profit decrease" or "some profit decrease," suggesting that while price revisions for label products are progressing, not all costs may be fully passed through. In addition, other factors besides rising material costs are likely, such as the time lag in price increases, soaring electricity and logistics costs, and increases in labor and fixed costs. This indicates that profits are not being secured due to factors other than material prices.
