The lead article on the front page covers the news that PubteX Inc. and Nippon Shuppan Hanbai Inc. (Nippan) recently announced the results of their demonstration experiment on bookstore operations utilizing RFID tags.

The six-month trial conducted at a bookstore in Tokyo improved display operations by leveraging real-time inventory visibility and data analysis using RFID. As a result, sales of new comic books increased by approximately 15% on average per month, and overall comic sales also surpassed the national average.

Furthermore, regarding labor-saving in store operations, an operational system manageable by a small number of staff was established. The experiment demonstrated that both sales improvement and labor-saving are possible through store management and sales analysis utilizing RFID tags.

It is noteworthy that the use of RFID tags served as the basis not only for inventory management and labor-saving but also for improving sales floors and promoting sales. The scope of data utilization obtained from tags is expected to expand further in the future.
